Manmadha Banam Movie Review
Music: Devisri Prasad
Cinematography: Manush Nandan
Producers: Subramanyam B & Rupesh Y
Story,Screenplay: Kamal Haasan
Direction: Vennelakanti
Cast: Kamal Haasan, Trisha, Madhavan, Sangeetha, Ramesh Aravind, Urvashi, Das, Manju Pillai, Srimaan, Usha Uthup, Oviya, Caroline, Suriya (spl appearance) etc

Set on the backdrop of Europe, the story starts with Nisha (Trisha), a noted actress who breaks up with her boyfriend Madangopal (Madhavan) after getting engaged and comes to Europe along with her friend Deepa (Sangeetha) and her kids.

Apparently, Madan suspects Nisha of having affairs and since he wants to prove a point, he hires Major Bhushan (Kamal) to spy on Nisha and provide evidence so that he can come clean. Bhushan has his own commitments in the form of his friend’s (Ramesh Aravind) chemotherapy and hence keen on earning money by any means.

What starts as a tale of detective work takes a different turn for Bhushan and connects him with his heart and also his past. What are those twists forms the rest of the story.

Performance

This is a nothing role for Kamal Haasan and his caliber. Though there was a scene or two where he got the chance to show his mettle, overall it was just a cake walk. He looks reasonably trim in this.

Trisha has increased her oomph and though she still has that cute looks, age is catching up with her and it is visible on her face. Performance wise, she was elegant and scored the brownie points.

Madhavan was effective but then his character was not etched that strongly so there were fluctuations in his performance.

Sangeetha did her bit as required and looked voluptuously attractive in few scenes. The dubbing of anchor Jhansi worked well for Sangeetha.

Ramesh Aravind was alright, Urvashi was crying all the time, Das and Manju Pillai did their bit as required, Oviya was brief, Caroline looked beautiful, Usha Uthup was a surprise, the child artistes were okay, Suriya with his song was a pleasure to watch.

Analysis

Given the title, the expectations were that it would be a flossy romantic entertainer with its own share of comedy and entertainment. However, the film takes off as a rather serious love story filled with sentiments, intensity and depth. With little humorous narration, the film runs smooth till interval.
https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjEkgatsu9sAobslVcwatkHt4gZuC7SbkesQTvamM7WwggGG3mej2uEP5DwLHPFeHRIpT1Mu4wFN6OYp3SAM2bwy32ih51JAoFfNQenkpWDl81at07esNcW4l92edCur47sGrFJWiWZU0E/s1600/manmadha_banam_telugu_movie_stills_photos_07.jpg

But then, it turns into a total reverse with the second half getting into silly comedy and unwanted sequences on the lines of ‘Pellam Oorellite’ etc, with confusion in character lines. At one point, the total film looks silly and there is absolutely no life in the climax. The saving grace to the film is the technical values, the star power and two decent songs.

At the box office, there is nothing for the masses and the classes will like the first half and leave by second half. This will be thumbs down at the box office.

Ragada Tollywood Telugu film Movie Story Review

http://www.movieupdates.in/wp-content/uploads/2010/11/ragada_movie_latest_stills_photos_06.jpg

Satya (Nagarjuna) is basically from Kadapa and he arrives in Hyderabad with a mission of earning mafia money. He joins the local don and does an efficient work. Sirisha (Anushka) who is a fiancee of local don likes Satya a lot. Meanwhile, Ashta Lakshmi (Priyamani) comes from nowhere along with her family and forces Satya to help them. As Sirisha and Ashta Lakshmi vie for the attention of Satya, he looks out for more money making opportunities. The rest of the story is all about the motive for the characters of Satya, Sirisha and Ashta Lakshmi.

Performance

http://www.zaffnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Latest-Movie-Ragada-Review-Movie-Ragada-Review-Entertainment.jpg

I would sound repetitive if I say Nagarjuna is gorgeous in this movie as he has been the same for the past one decade. Hence I skip the looks part. Nagarjuna added Rayalaseema words in his dialogue delivery and it adds good flavor. Fights are designed in this movie to suit the style of Nagarjuna. Anushka is glittering with sensuousness in this movie and she has put a bit of weight compared to Arundhati time. Her broad hips were effectively showcased in the songs (especially Okkadante Okkade and Meesamunna Manmadhuda). Priyamani did the role of a traditional Brahmin girl. Charmme sizzled in the title song. Brahmanandam did a full-length character as the guy who loves heroine. He is entertaining.

Ragada has an ordinary revenge story with a couple of twists. Veeru Potla who made his debut as director with an entertainer like Bindaas made sure that there is ample entertainment in this script as well. The screenplay is good in second half where a couple of unexpected twists are revealed. Direction of the movie is okay in the parts. The entire first half of the movie doesn’t have much of a story.

Music by Thaman is good. Thanks to aggressive promotion by FM radio channels, I got familiar with first four songs of the film and enjoyed watching them with good visuals. Cinematography by Sarvesh Murari is of top notch quality. Enough recognition should be given to color grading and visual effects. Dialogues by Veeru Potla are a plus. Editing by Marthand K Venkatesh is smooth. Fights composed by Vijay are stylish. AS Prakash’s art direction is neat. The production values by Kamakshi banner and post production quality are excellent.

First half of the movie adequate. Second half is stuffed with the content and a couple of interesting twists. The plus points of the movie are main leads (Nagarjuna, Anushka and Priyamani) and stylish taking. However, it has become highly formulaic for heroes to join mafia with a personal agenda in most of the mass movies. There are too many villains in the movie and the connection among them is little confusing. We have to wait and see how audiences will lap the Ragada up.

Ranga The Donga Tollywood Telugu Movie Story Review

http://www.cinemagupshup.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/08/Ranga-The-Donga-shrikanth-560x372.jpg

Ranga (Srikanth) is a notorious thief and he along with his group (Sivaji and others) spends their life stealing from the corrupt cops.

Ranga has got a grandma (Telangana Sakunthala) with whom he has fights all the time. He also has a love affair with inspector Mangamma (Vimala) and also a strong passion for faction cinema, factionists etc. His life takes a turn when he comes across Bhavani Prasad (Srikanth again), a real life factionist.

Who is Bhavani Prasad? What is the link between him and Ranga? What happens from there forms the rest of the story.

Performance

https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiN0GBhbDo4GvGxTxlI4y7Uk1xmoGaoJTMLEiXTLlrKf0CU0WblpjDnKRE2Hm8JzoZNCLCUTBh2KEc0xf60JxTKAlQj6lKLJSNHhbAsbuBynQjbp_h3SK5QnLqbnB3wIQhl7B00gIlLCqL3/s1600/ranga+the+donga+movie+pics.jpg

Srikanth has given a decent performance in both roles but then the body language is quite mild. Somehow he needs to pump energy in his body and show some speed.

Vimala Raman is a seductress. Though she is not endowed with curves, she has a raw sex appeal that is enough to entice the audience. Performance wise, there is nothing for her. It is about time she thinks twice before she chooses such roles or else her days are numbered.

Ramya Krishnan tries to be stiff and strict. Though she enlarges her eyes at all times, the impact was not that great.

Telangana Sakuntala was alright, Sivaji was okay, the actor who did the villain’s role was apt, Jayaprakash Reddy brought few smiles, Chakri looked drowsy, Sakshi Shivanand looks pale in the item song, Jyothi, Bhuvaneshwari, Taslima Sheikh made their presence felt for the special song. The others were there to fill the screen.

Analysis

The movie carried 3rd grade stuff with weak characterizations. Every character does over-action and the director has to be blamed for that. The Godavari slang for Vimala Raman is irritating. Wearing Jasmines in Police Uniform with long plait is the most useless thought of the decade.

Director has learnt the technique of film making but he didn’t even learned ABCD in bringing conviction to the scene. He has got no assessment of audience pulse. He has shown what he wanted to show but hardly considered the taste of audience and their receptiveness.

http://2.bp.blogspot.com/_7_380b_lYio/Sp1A9D1CWUI/AAAAAAAADXQ/pA1LObDbs5c/s400/ActressBhuvaneswariphoto_gallery4.jpg

The director failed miserably in depicting that punch or getting the momentum. Inexperience was showing in many scenes as the screenplay was very weak. Too much of build-up dialogues on faction looks silly and annoying.

Comedy quotient was literally nil and though few technical shots were appealing the film, it lacks the conviction to engage the audience into the plot. One fails to understand how actors like Srikanth agree to such projects.

At the box office, few scenes might appeal to the auto drivers and rickshaw pullers at the B and C centers but overall, this is a dud.

Parama Veera Chakra Review
Movie: Parama Veera Chakra
Banner: Teja Cinema
Music: Mani Sharma

Producer: C Kalyan
Story,Screenplay,Dialogues & Direction: Dasari Narayana Rao
Cast: Balakrishna, Sheela, Ameesha Patel, Jayasudha, Murali Mohan, Ravi Kumar, Nagineedu, Neha Dhupia, Ali, Brahmanandam, Hema, Seetha, Kalyani etc

http://movies.vinkas.in/files/2011/01/Parama-Veera-Chakra1.jpg

After the commercial block buster ‘Simha’ in the year 2010, Nandamuri Balakrishna has come up with his first film in 2011 with the title ‘Parama Veera Chakra’. And this film is directed by Dasari Narayana Rao who made a disaster called ‘Young India’. So, this PVC is the film in the combination of a hero who gave a big hit and a director who made a flop recently. Let us get into the details.

Chakradhar (Balakrishna) is a renowned Telugu film actor. A girl (Sheela) gets attracted to him and wishes to get close to her. Chakradhar’s mother (Jayasudha) never likes her son getting into films. She wishes to see him in Indian Army as Major. But things take different turn and Chakradhar continues as actor playing varied roles like Ravana, Komaram Bheem, labor leader etc.

A team of Army officers come to Chakradhar to narrate a story. An officer (Murali Mohan) narrates him the character of a great Army officer Major Jayasimha. Listening for a while Chakradhar gets Major Jayasimha into him. He started carrying that character with him after getting inspired to the maximum.

Performance

http://www.indiasummary.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/Parama-Veera-Chakra-review-wallpapers.jpg

There is nothing to point out Balakrishna. He attained his trade mark in acting and getting continued with that. On a whole he is marvelous in the role of Ravana and labor leader. He also showed his prowess while delivering a dialogue on film actors. Except the signs of catching up age, Balakrishna looked as usual with respect to his theatrical skills.

Sheela has no proper role. She appears just for some glamour sake. Indeed, her glamour is not used properly.

Coming to the comedy part the Robo spoof appeared like a rotten egg. Nasty comedy with C grade taste disgusts the audiences. Brahmanandam, Ali and Hema carry in that spoof till the end. Raghu Babu and Krishna Bhagwan got wasted as they got no role at all.

Dasari pulled many film celebrities on to the screen right from Boyapati Srenu, Srinu Vaitla, Kodi Ramakrishna, Jonnaviththula, Singeetham Sreenivasa Rao etc.

Analysis

http://www.8pmnews.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/10/Parama-veera-Chakra.jpg

On a whole 95% of the film, fails to pull the attention of audience. Entire blame goes to Dasari Narayana Rao, the captain of the movie. He would have taken enough care in pulling the interest of audiences.

* Instead of the song ‘Thalli Kadupulo..’ he would have presented a remix version of ‘jananee janma bhoomischa..’ which would have given better ignition for audience to get enticed to screen. But still, the lyric is sensible even in ‘thalli kadupulo’.
* He would have presented the terrorists and fights with them in realistic way instead of sticking on to the Before-Christ styles.
* He would have avoided the Robo spoof that brought C-grade image to the film
* He would have avoided the song ‘Arjuna Phalguna..’ as it appears the placement is wrong

The film begins with ‘Bobbili Puli’ scene of NTR. First few minutes confuse the audiences as the film takes off with Balakrishna’s ‘Ravana’ scene. The scene is very long that audience doubt if they are watching the trailer of ‘Sri Rama Rajyam’. But slowly the presentation style chosen by Dasari will be understood. There is no story in entire first half but only incidents role. The idea is good but the execution is very weak. The actual story and ploys start in second half.
http://telugu.way2movies.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/Parama-Veera-Chakra_Music_R-300x225.jpg

The movie is not a great deal. Even the favorites of Balakrishna may be happy just for 2 or 3 scenes and nothing more. Dasari’s obsolete ideas and narration scheme disturbed the movie.

Movie: Mirapakai

Producer: Ramesh Puppala
Story,Screenplay,Dialogues & Direction: Harish Shankar
Cast: Ravi Teja, Richa Gangopadhyay, Deeksha Seth, Prakashraj, Kota, Ajay, Supreeth, Sunil, Brahmaji, Ravu Ramesh, Ali, Naga Babu,

Rishi (Raviteja) is a ‘pelli kaani’ police officer, who is dying to find someone to marry and settle down in life. He joins a college as Hindi lecturer on a mission. His target is to find the whereabouts of Kittu Bhai (Prakash Raj). Meanwhile he fall in love with student Vinamra (Richa) and when their love is growing leaps and bounds in comes Vaishali (Deeksha Seth), the daughter of Kittu Bhai. Now, Rishi’s mission is to make her fall for him and get the details about Kittu. What happens next can be easily guessed by anyone.

Performance

http://www.movieupdates.in/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/MirapakayaLatestMovieStills8.jpg

Raviteja is in his usual self. His energy levels are superb and he simply excels in this role without a hint of tiredness.

Richa Gangopadhyaya should work on her expressions if she is planning to have a long lasting career. She doesn’t possess great looks it is mandatory for her to concentrate upon her acting skills.

Kota Srinivasa Rao is good. Supreeth and Ajay are standard. Sunil comedy hardly works. Brahmaji is fine. Nagababu is apt. Ali is OK. Rao Ramesh is wasted. Prakash Raj has a very little role to play in this film. His wardrobe is weird. Rest of the cast did as per the requirements. Colors Swathi did a cameo.

C. Ram Prasad’s cinematography is good without any unnecessary gimmicks. Gowtam Raju editing is fine. Thaman music is high on energy. Vaishali and Silaka songs are nice. Background score is not bad. Production values are an asset.

Harish Shankar didn’t try to showcase his skills as a director. He has sincerely worked for a commercial success. His desperation is understandable but saying so he should have done something ‘special’ to grab the attention.

http://www.cinemaupdates.in/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/05MirapakayaLatestMovieStills_thumb.jpg

Analysis

Mirapakaya is like any other Raviteja movie. Director Harish Shankar, who portrayed Raviteja as a serious action hero in Shock movie didn’t try to go against the tide this time. He only tried to entertain audiences right from the word go. Despite giving heavy buildup to this film, director slipped into jolly mode right after the first reel.

Police officer going to college as student… err lecturer is in the lines of Main Hoon Na. Of course Raviteja too did a film Khatarnak with similar theme. However, Hairsh Shankar gives this a new flavor to keep the audience glued to the screen. But the lack of proper content has repeatedly disturbed the proceedings. If one scene clicks and entertains you it is followed by a couple of boring sequences.

The major story of the movie is revealed in the first 15 minutes and the culmination takes place in the last 15 minutes. The rest of two hours is dedicated to the love angle and entertainment. The screenplay that takes place during this 2-hour period is not properly done. It is a proven fact that Ravi Teja’s movies have scant respect for story and screenplay and majorly depend on the entertainment aspect. The entertainment is interesting in parts.

Irendri(Manchu Lakshmi Prasanna) is a serpent queen who rules the kingdom of Angadesam. She hails from the family of magical witches and seeks immortality. Her mentor reveals about a girl Moksha (Baby Harshitha) who has a divine power in her and drinking her blood would be the solution.

Irendri sends her troops to get Moksha but her bodyguard Yodha (Siddarth) the blind warrior stands as protection. On the other hand, Yodha has got his love tale with Priya (Shruti Haasan) and assumes she is dead.

However, there is a connect between Irendri and Priya. And Yodha’s mission is to take Moksha, the divine girl, to a place to save the lives of many children who get into coma with the poison showered by Irendri’s fiendish troops.

Will Moksha go and save children with her power or she falls in the trap of Irendri? What happens from there forms the rest of the story. Telugu Movie Reviews

Siddarth is a mismatch to the role. He can be good for the role of a prince but he doesn’t have the ruggedness or the masculinity to be a warrior. However, he tried to do his best so efforts were good though result was bad.

Shruti Haasan looks fresh, beautiful, seductive and sensuous. However, she must remember that if she continues picking up roles like this, her career will not last for long. Performance wise, she didn’t have anything to offer except show some oomph in the songs.

Lakshmi Manchu is the saving grace for the film. Her grandeur and decoration in appearance makes up for any drawbacks and she has given a decent performance given her debut in Tollywood. Well, there is huge acceptance for her as Mohan Babu’s daughter. She emulated him in a few scenes with her walk and dialogue.

Baby Harshitha is okay but given her character, it would have made sense if she maintained some serenity instead of prancing around like a kid who just comes after the school is over.

Ram Vallabhaneni seems to have come through recommendation. Ravi Babu looked silly, Ali brought few smiles, Brahmi looks dumb, Subbaraya Sharma has a guest role, Tanikella was brief, the others did their bit as required.

Visual Effects

Visual effects worth a special mention for this film, Visual effects are extraordinary, spectacular & ideal. We find visual effects through out Irendri’s character in the movie.

Analysis

http://www.movieupdates.in/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/04_shruti_hassan_anaganaga_o_dheerudu_latest_hot_stills_photos_pictures_wallpapers_gallery.jpg

First things first, if Prakash is looking to make a career as a director, he must go back to school and learn the fundamentals. For starters, the story must be strong, if it is not then the narrative must be strong, if that is not then atleast the etching of the characters must be convincing. He has failed in all skills department. It looks as if he was focusing on the surroundings and the colorful settings rather than the main plot and the depth it must have. A few observations regarding attention to detail that he must ponder:

* Siddharth’s appearance lacks macho look that is required for this role.
* Moreover his blind portrayal adds no value to the drama but dropped the graph down.
* The scene shows the villain piercing the eyes of Siddarth, where are the scars?
* If it’s a fantasy then the script and dialogues must suit that genre, phrases like ‘Naayala’ ‘Jaffa’ …sounds strange. There is a fluctuation in the grammar, sometimes it is authentic, sometimes it becomes colloquial. ‘nadumu chooste mara phirangulu..’ is term used in a song. Where did this ‘phirangi’ come in such a folklore backdrop?
* The movie runs beyond time and space (!) It is hard to find out the backdrop- Caribbean or Arabian or Siberian or Indian? Well, it’s understood as Fairy Tale and hence backdrop shouldn’t be questioned.
* Good narration is accompanied with gripping screenplay and enticing dialogues. Nothing worked in this movie from start till end.
* The divine girl Moksha is shown just like a normal school girl and hence her characterization lacked value.

Golkonda High School Tollywood Telugu film Movie story Review

http://kasepu.com/wp-content/uploads/2011/01/swathi1.jpg

Golkonda High School is in the verge of extinction as the trustees want to make money since it is a good real estate property. Board’s Trustee Kireeet (Subbaraju) comes up with a proposal of turning the playground into a coaching center. Principal Viswanath (Tanikella Bharani) opposes to that proposal vehemently. Kireet then asks the principal to show results if he wants to retain playground. Viswanath comes up with the proposal that playground should be retained if GHS’s cricket team manages to win AP level league tournament. Principal Viswanath summons for his former student Sampath (Sumanth) - an idealist who leads a dejected life. Sampath joins GHS as the cricket coach and he has three months to convert the disoriented GHS cricket team of 14 students into champions. The rest of the story is all about how he coaches GHS team to victory and in the process how he is gets his redemption.

Sumanth comes up with his career best performance as coach Sampath in this movie. It is an idealistic and inspiring character. Sumanth’s diction, expressions and body language suited it really well. Sumanth is the right choice for this movie. Swati’s role is not connected with the main story line. If she looked like a playful teen in her earlier movies, Swati is looking like a woman in this movie with sarees and demure performance. Subaraju has a towering screen presence and he proves again his capability as an actor with this movie. In all his earlier movies, Shafi used to dominate the character. He played this character within the boundaries in GHS and he is highly impressive. Tanikella Bharani is excellent. Ravi Prakash is authentic. Though all the seasoned actors performed exceedingly well, it is the kids who are stars of this movie. All the kids who acted as students are extremely natural. Santosh and Sangeet (both of them are sons of late director Sobhan Babu) have acted as Gowtam and Varun. Santosh’s performance is intense. Varun is very cute. Srinivas Sai (who acted as kid Nagarjuna in Kedi) is terrific as hot-blooded youngster. Farooq who played the role of Micky is genuine and effective. Lalith who played the role of sardarji keeper is very good with his performance. I don’t know the names of other kids. But the all the students are perfectly cast. The old man who did the role of attendant is perfect.

Analysis

Ram Mohan (Art Beat Capital) who produced comedy like Ashta Chemma as his first venture made a brave decision when wanted to make an idealistic and inspiring sports-based movie. The credit for this movie should go to him. Because of the freedom given by the producer, Mohan Krishna Indraganti could able to come with a neat product. All the cast and crew complemented each other’s work. There is an underlying message in the movie to the parents and students. At the same time, the entertainment quotient is intact. GHS might not have regular commercial elements, but has enough content in the movie to make you glued to the screen. On a whole, Golkonda High School is a different yet enjoyable film. You may watch it at your leisure.

Story review

The film starts with John (Ashish Vidyarthi) kidnapping Goutham (Nani). In their travel, John demands Goutham to say his story. Goutham starts narrating and the actual movie starts-:

Goutham (Nani) is the guy who works in TV5 as program director. He falls in love with Nitya (Nitya Menon) accidentally through friendship. But Nitya has a fiancé (‘Snehageetham’ Chaitanya). How Goutham reacts to that? That’s one phase.

Nitya off late discovers that she is in love with Goutham than her fiancé. When she returns to express that, she discovers that Goutham has a fiancée Kavya (Sneha Ullal).

How Nitya reacts to that? That is second phase.

Nitya agrees for an arranged marriage as per the decision of her parents. Goutham breaks up with Kavya on a funny reason. What is that reason? That is phase 3.

The story culminates interestingly in phase 4. That has to be watched on screen. Whether Nitya and Goutham unite? If yes, how? What happens to Kavya? And what happens to John?
‘Mahatma’ Ramesh spilled laughs in theatre with his guest appearance as drunkard.

Analysis

The concept is old but the narrative style chosen is impressive. The take off with unique way of projecting the titles .
First half thus suffers several ups and downs and by interval a feel of ‘not bad’ hits the senses of audiences.
Second half has the real life. The momentum picked up and Ashish Vidyarthi’s performance gave real kick for the film. And the guest actor Ramesh (drunkard guy in marriage hall) also sprinkled enough laughs with his effective performance.

Story Review

Rambabu (Gopichand) is the young man who has no job at all. Peculiarly, his parents (Chandramohan and Jayasudha) also encourage their son to stay only at home and eat without doing any job. Accidentally he falls in love with a medico Nandini (Deeksha Seth) who has a secret mission. Although she is a medical student, her flash back pushes her to do certain activities secretly. What are those activities? That is a facet of heroine.

Eventually Nandini uses Rambabu’s love on her to take vengeance on the criminals those made her family an ash. What is the vengeance and who put an end to her family?

There comes Basivi Reddy (Prakash Raj), a rugged gangster who killed Nandini’s family members. Hence he faces trouble from Rambabu as a part of Nandini’s revenge.

Deeksha Seth is just there for some glamour but that glamour is not exploited well. She has to get trained in the aspect of performance and expressions.

Analysis:

Writer BVS Ravi debuted with this film. Huge casting, good production values and required technicians joined him. He weaved the story point impressively but goofed up with screenplay. The interval bang could be when heroine throws the pistol in hero’s hands. But the break happened after a fight which spoiled the suspense factor. Second half picked up during heroine’s flash back but again dropped with elastic narration.

On a whole, watching ‘Wanted’ is like a bumpy ride. The graph suffered several ups and downs. Director would have done enough homework to tight the loose ends. The movie could have sounded better had he made corrections in screenplay in the matter of length of scenes.

Anaganaga o dheerudu Irendri (Lakshmi Manchu) is a witch who takes over the world from her place - Angarajyam. Moksha (Baby Harshita) is a small girl who has special divine powers. Yodha (Siddharth) is a blind warrior. Irendri wants to kill Moksha and Yodha is entrusted with the job of gaurding Moksha.

anaganaga o dheerudu It is virtually impossible for any young hero in Telugu cinema to accept a blind man’s role. Siddharth is very brave to brace this character that flows with the narration of the movie. Siddharth is fabulous. Shruti Hassan is glamorous with her exotic looks. However, it is Lakshmi Manchu who steals the show. Her make-up, dialogue delivery and screen presence is terrific. Baby Harshita is impressive with her work. Ravi Babu is nice as the lieutenant of witch with the funny oneliner ‘nimma daanimma’.

Story of the film is like Chandamama katha . The director didn’t succumb to the commercial trap and narrated it in a way it should be. Prakash Kovelamudi is excellent with visuals and presentation. He is highly imaginative. He introduced all the characters excellently. However, the movie has only one orientation throughout the movie - witch seeking the kid. A couple of secrets revealed in the second half are interesting.

Songs are composed by 4 different music directors and all the songs are good. Background music composed by Salim Sulaiman is excellent. Visuals in this movie are of extraordinary quality. It is the result of collective team work by the cinematographer (Sounder Rajan) and visual effects team (Firefly). There are many visual effects that doesn’t appear like effects to naked eyes. There are graphics worth 72 minutes in this movie (half of the total runtime). Art direction by Bhupesh Bhupathi is superb. The costumes, make-up and get-ups are of top-notch. Dialogues by T Rajasimha are pretty good and they might sound odd for the regular moviegoers because the dialogues were written in pristine Telugu though he used contemporary cheap words like jaffa. Production values of the movie are humongous.

When was the last time we have the hero playing the role of a blind man? When was the last time a Telugu movie had a young woman as a villain? Anaganaga O Dheerudu is a brave attempt that defies many stereotypes and cliches of Telugu cinema. But at the same time, it is extremely important for any director to get the emotions flared up at the crux moments. Prakash Kovelamudi who stuck with the script made sure that the story is narrated like a fairy tale, but he couldn't get the right emotions/tempo (suspense or utkantha) towards the climax of the movie. The plus points of the movie are extraordinary visuals, lead performances (especially Lakshmi Manchu) and classic style of story-telling.

Brindavanam Tollywood movie story review

Brindavanam

Cast: Jr NTR,Kajal Agarwal, Samantha, Srihari
Director: Vamsi Paidipally
Producer: Dil Raju
Music Director: Thaman S

Krishna aka Krish (NTR) is a super wealthy city boy with lenient parents and all the other superficial clichés of rich kids in our films. Krish does what a Jr.NTR would do in any other film. Helps his friends to get married against violent odds (a usual ingredient of ‘masala’ used so that an opening fight which has nothing to do with the film can be included), loves his parents and the other etc’s. Krish has a girlfriend (Samantha playing Indu) who asks him to pretend as Bhoomi’s (Indu’s friend played by Kajal) lover. So that Bhoomi’s stringent dad (Prakash Raj) would let her study further and cancel the marriage in the village.

The marriage is a long standing agreement between two families honoring the death of Bhoomi’s mother. Once Krish arrives at Bhoomi’s place, he understands the much larger stakes on the table about village rivalries and the other usual pages of this ‘Kalisundam Raa’ sort of script.

Krish sorts out EVERYTHING. Resolves family disputes, impresses the girl, calms down the village rivalries, beats up goons at every given chance, unites the angry half-brothers (Prakash Raj and Sri Hari) and for some reason had left out the country’s national issues.

What’s good?
Even though the film is something we have seen hundreds of times (mostly in Venkatesh films), the first half holds an attractive pace and is over before you “phew”.

The cinematography can be given special mention (at least in comparison with the usual films of this sort).

Most of the songs were catchy and well picturised too.

Things that need to change for good.

Fights where we have human footballs flying all over the screen (rope fights) arebecoming ‘irksome patience testers’. Reduce the number of these things or at least the lengths of these ropes.

The script was too predictable. Anybody who had spent more than 3 years with Telugu cinema could have guessed every other moment of the second half.

Actors.
When the moment for the ‘angry young man’ was called for, NTR was there. But, on most occasions seemed tucked into his trouser pockets and the ease for which he was popular at first seems to be missing.

Female leads and other actors did what Telugu cinema had taught them and they don’t really seem bothered as long as they are getting their pay checks in time.
